Bakkavör has appointed Mike Edwards as chief operating officer for its UK business.

According to the company, Edwards will have overall management responsibility for UK operations.

Formerly managing director of Meal Solutions, Edwards joined Bakkavör in 2001, and has over 25 years of experience working in the food sector.

Ágúst Gudmundsson, CEO, said: “Mike’s appointment as COO of the UK reflects our commitment to the strategic development of our UK business operations and our focus on the evolving needs of our customers.”

The company has also announced the departure of Steve Broadbent, managing director of Convenience Food, from the group.

Gudmundsson added: “I would like to thank Steve Broadbent for his significant contribution to the group and wish him well for the future.”
