Team members at RedBlack Software, the developers of epos and bakery software, are to ride a stage of the Tour de France in a bid to raise money for charity.

The company has entered a 10-strong team into Cyclists Fighting Cancer’s (CFC) Etape de Yorkshire event.

They will cycle the 120-mile route of the first stage of the Tour de France 2014, which will take them from Leeds to Harrogate via the North Yorkshire Moors, with 1,000 riders expected to take part.

Excited

Andrew Throup, account manager and team leader, said: “We’re very excited that the Tour de France is starting in Yorkshire this year. It’s a big thing - not just for us but the country as a whole.”

All participants will wear Team RedBlack cycling jerseys, emblazoned with the logos of the companies that are sponsoring the team.

RedBlack has set up a Just Giving webpage to gather donations to Cyclists Fighting Cancer as sponsorship for its team. (http://www.justgiving.com/TeamRedblack) The page has currently raised £515 of its £1,000 target.

All proceeds from the event will go to CFC to help the charity with its work with children with cancer across the UK.
