Subway and Euro Garages have opened their 50th integrated Subway store as part of growth plans.

The store marks the mid-point of Euro Garages plan to open 100 Subway stores by 2016. The shop was opened at Leamore Service station in Walsall, creating 15 new jobs.

Mike Charest, assistant regional director for Subway Europe, said: “The Subway brand partnership with Euro Garages is going from strength to strength and the opening of the 50th store is testament to that. The forecourt and convenience sector is a key area of growth for the Subway brand. The simple operations that are involved in running a Subway franchise and the convenience offer make it a perfect fit for these styles of location.

“Euro Garages provides ideal forecourt locations for integrated Subway stores and the partnership allows for a collaborative approach that delivers a flexible business model, real partner benefits, including increased footfall, ongoing marketing support, sustainable sales and excellent business growth opportunities.”

The company has already bought up and transferred 48 Esso forecourt sites across the Midlands and the East of England, and continues to target the same geographical locations as part of its national expansion plans.

Euro Garages already owns and operates over 180 forecourt sites in the north west, north east, Yorkshire, Wales and the Midlands. The opening follows the milestone of Subway’s 1,800th store last week.

Ilyas Munshi, commercial director, Euro Garages, said: “Subway is known for its strength in introducing the brand through effective convenience channels, and this partnership offers strong support for our own business. Reaching this milestone is testament to our investment people, capital and systems. We look forward to growing our estate to the 100th Subway store milestone by 2016.”
