WC Rowe is contemplating a £2m spend on its Falmouth site to bring it back up to standard, the director in charge of the renovation has said.

An inspection of fire damage at Rowe’s Bakery has pushed expectation of production back to September.

The fire at its Bickland bakery in July, following an electrical fault, caused detrimental damage to the premises.

Staff affected by the fire have been redeployed, and Cornish pasty production is being carried out at its Penryn bakery.

A spokesman for the business said: “We have now been able to assess the true extent of the damage and have a clear recovery plan in place for when the site will be back producing our much-loved pasties and savouries.

“We are currently able to carry out processing operations from the site, but we don’t expect production to be up and running again until the end of September.

“Our immediate goal is to ensure works are carried out as quickly and safely as we can, so we can get back into production at the earliest possible opportunity.”

The bakery has thanked its customers for their continued support and understanding.

All recovery plans are hoped to be completed by the end of the year.
