Exquisite Handmade Cakes, based in Leeds, will launch cocktail and sweet shop cake ranges early next year.

Inspired by the trend for nostalgia, the sweet shop range will include Black Jack, Bah Humbug and Fruit Salad varieties, while the cocktail range will feature woo woo, strawberry daiquiri and mojito flavours.

The new ranges will not be available until next year as the company works on ‘perfecting the recipes’. A spokesman for the brand said the flavours were chosen as a take on the trend for nostalgia, but ‘moved on’ from the traditional baked products, such as Bakewell tart.

The Leeds-based company, founded by Viv Parry, makes a selection of gâteaux, cakes, muffins, shortbreads and sweet slices. It prides itself on making its cakes by hand with quality ingredients.

Last summer it won contracts to be stocked at Lord’s Cricket Ground, after also being sold at the Chelsea Flower Show. Earlier that year it also won a listing in two Waterstones café branches – Café W – in Bradford and Swansea.
