Mondelez International, owner of Cadbury, has signed a deal to set up a new $90m (£59.15m) biscuit factory in Bahrain.

Industry and commerce minister Zayed Al Zayan and Mondelez International yesterday signed a lease agreement, paving the way for the new factory.

This is the second major investment by Mondelez in Bahrain.

It has already invested more than $75m in developing a Kraft Cheese and Tang powdered-beverage plant in the market, which has been operational since 2008.

The facility employs more than 240 people and has a production capacity of 110,000 tonnes per year.
