Glasgow-based McGhee’s Bakery is investing £3m to extend its bakery, it has been revealed.

The company, which was recently named Scottish Baker of the Year, said the development at the M8 Food Park in Port Dundas would be completed by next spring and will boost its production by a third.

The bakery was founded in 1935 by Dugald McGhee at its original bakehouse in Oran Street, Maryhill, Glasgow and the company is famous for its crispy rolls.

Managing director Gordon McGhee told the Scottish Daily Record the improvements to its bakery would expand its consumer offering, “in particular in the export market and frozen food sectors”.
