A new artisan micro-bakery, Cocomacs, has opened in the newly launched Grand Central Birmingham shopping centre.

The independent company’s macaroons are prepared and baked daily in store and come in flavours, including salted caramel, cherry and Piña Colada macaroon.

All of the macaroons are dairy-free and gluten- and wheat-free.

Cocomacs also offers Cocomac Unos, mallow treats covered with chocolate in more than 20 flavours, available in singles or gift boxes of 12 and 25.

Cocomacs’ website said it was seeking a franchise partner to open a site in south-east Manchester, and also planned to open franchises in mainland Europe, the Middle East and North America.

And a Cocomacs online shop will be up and running in October, it said.

One of Cocomacs’ first customers @missAMYELINOR  commented on Twitter: “If someone wants to get me a box of #Cocomacs for my birthday that’d be sweet... ”.

The hot drink range includes Nespresso, Cocomacs Silk Hot Chocolate range with fresh cream, marshmallows and Baileys and Kandula hand-picked Sri Lankan full leaf tea.

The new Grand Central shopping centre, opened on 24 September, includes more than 60 premium shops and restaurants.
