The 16 celebrity contestants for a charity run of the Great British Bake Off have been announced.

Held in aid of Sport Relief, the four-part series will be shown ahead of the main event on the 18-20 March and features such high-profile individuals as Samantha Cameron and ex-England goalkeeper David James.

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will return to carrying out the judging and each of the episodes will have a different presenter, with comedians Jennifer Saunders, Ed Byrne and Sarah Millican each taking a turn, as well as Bake Off regular Mel Giedroyc.

The programmes will also include segments featuring Claire Balding visiting Comic Relief-sponsored projects in Kenya to show how money raised by Sport Relief will help poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and abroad.

The full list of celebrities is: Ade Edmondson, Alison Steadman, Chris Kamara, David James, Ed Balls, Jason Manford, Jermaine Jenas, John Simpson, Kimberly Walsh, Geri Horner, Louise Redknapp, Maddy Hill, Morgana Robinson, Samantha Cameron, Victoria Coren-Mitchell and Will Young.

Sport Relief is part of the charity Comic Relief and raises money chiefly through charitable sporting events. 50% of the money raised funds projects in the UK and the rest helps people in the world’s poorest communities.
