The bag-sealing equipment manufacturer Select Bag Sealers (SBS) has been acquired by specialist tape manufacturer ProSpool.

SBS supplies many of the country’s best-known bakery brands, and has now been acquired for an undisclosed sum by a group of investors, headed by the senior management team at ProSpool.

SBS has produced and supplied automated bag-sealing machines to customers internationally for nearly 30 years. Fellow Yorkshire-based business ProSpool also has a 30-year track record in the bakery sector, and is Europe’s leading provider of specialist bag-sealing tape products and contract spool-winding services.

ProSpool’s technical director of ten years, Simon Browning, will take over as managing director of SBS. SBS founder Tom Foster will stay involved with the business for the foreseeable future, and the SBS team will remain unchanged.

Foster said: “I’m very happy to see the future of Select Bag Sealers secured with the sale to a like-minded business. I believe that ProSpool’s long-standing industry experience and expertise makes this the ideal partnership to take SBS forward into a new era.”

Browning added: “Product development and innovation are key areas of focus for us, and the market-leading equipment Select Bag Sealers manufactures complements the existing ProSpool product range perfectly.

“I am very much looking forward to working with the Select Bag Sealers team to support new and existing customers.”
