Crewe-based Wrights Food Group has presented a Cheshire scout group with a special commemorative hamper as part of the company’s 90th anniversary celebrations.

The pie-maker presented the hamper, one of several it has gifted to local organisations in its milestone year, to Robin Edwards, chairman of South West Cheshire Scout Group , and several members. The scout group was nominated for having reached their landmark 100th anniversary this month.

Under the slogan 90 Tasty Years, Wrights has organised a string  of events that involve people whose lives have been touched by the company since it started out in Stoke-on-Trent.

The wooden hampers are filled with a selection of items, including a bottle of Wrights own-label champagne. They are presented to people living in and around Staffordshire and Cheshire who nominees feel deserved on – whether for an act of charity, kindness, dedication to a cause, being helpful or running a club or organisation.

Edwards said “September marks our 100th anniversary, so, like Wrights, we’re holding a celebration and an array of events throughout the month. We’re delighted to receive a Wrights hamper.”

Wrights chairman and CEO Peter Wright said: “In our 90th year we wanted to give something back to the local community who have supported us over the decades. South West Cheshire Scout Group is clearly deserving of a 90 Tasty Years hamper and we hope it goes some way in helping to raise funds for the group. We wish them the best of luck with their 100th anniversary events.”

The scout group plans to raffle off the hamper during their anniversary month with all proceeds going to the scout group to help support the wide range of activities available for youngsters throughout the year.

In April Wrights opened a new retail outlet in Stoke-on-Trent.
