Leicestershire baker Michelle Orme has retained her ‘Best Vegan Bakery’ title at the annual Vegfest UK awards in London at the weekend (Saturday 22 October).

Orme, who runs her charity-focused cruelty-free business The Vegan Cakery from her home in Fleckney, has won the accolade for the second year in a row and received her award from actor, and fellow vegan, Peter Egan.

The Vegan Cakery’s triumph at the weekend means the business has picked up a total of five national awards since 2013.

Orme commented: “It’s such a fantastic feeling to win the Best Vegan Bakery award again at Vegfest UK, I’m so grateful to all of the people who voted for me and I can’t express what it means.

“I put my heart and soul into everything I do with The Vegan Cakery, whether it’s the baking, the packaging, marketing or administration, and it’s absolutely amazing to have that acknowledged by so many wonderful customers and supporters from across the UK and beyond.”

The baker set up her business in 2012, and has won honours such as the ‘Best Vegan Company’ at the 2013 UK Vegan awards and collected two accolades at last year’s Vegfest awards.
