The New York Bakery Co has steadied its sales and has cut its losses during a strong year.

The company, which is owned by the largest baking company in the world, Grupo Bimbo, recorded a turnover of £76.6m for the year to 31 December 2015 compared to £77m the previous year. Although a decrease, this compares with a significant fall in turnover from £86.4m to £77m in the year to 31 December 2014, due to a supermarket contract loss and the 2013 sale of its bread-making site at Premier Park in London.

The bakery business also cut its pre-tax losses from £229k to £194k in 2015.

A statement from New York Bakery Co reported that the company had maintained its focus on supporting UK retailers and it would take further steps to develop its foodservice offering. It also stated it was starting to see the “operational benefits” from these moves.

New York Bakery Co employs 535 people and is headquartered at Swinton Meadows Industrial Estate in Rotherham.

In September, New York Bakery Co added new products to its range, with the Cheese Bagel variant.
