Hobart Cooking Solutions has appointed former Catering Equipment Distribution Association (CEDA) chairman Iain Munro as director.

Munro is due to take up the role at Hobart next month, after resigning his position as MD of distributor ScoMac Catering Equipment.

He will head up the Hobart Cooking Solutions division “and be responsible for developing the success of the company’s leading portfolio of brands including Bonnet, Hobart and ELRO, as well as strengthening its already clear commitment to the distribution channels,” the company said in a statement.

Munro said of the move: “I have been presented with an exciting new career opportunity and feel I will be joining a business at a good stage in the development of its distributor network, to which I believe I can bring my experience to grow and develop this even further.”

Iain has “unrivalled experience in the distribution arena”, according to Hobart, having worked for ScoMac Catering Equipment, formerly Scobie & McIntosh Catering Equipment, since 1998.

Florian Wagner, Hobart’s Head of Food Equipment – Europe, added: “We are very pleased Iain accepted our offer to join Hobart Cooking Solutions. Iain’s previous experience working with Falcon and Rational in the development of key accounts will help strengthen the Hobart Cooking Solutions strategy.”

Munro takes over from Simon Merrick, who left the business in April to work in the coffee machine sector.
