Warrens Bakery is to open its first store in the medieval city of Winchester this month, as it continues its rapid expansion across the UK.
The store, located on Jewry Street, will open on Tuesday 26 September and represents Warrens’ fifth franchise store outside the south west. The bakery is continuing its partnership with Farhat Abbas, who has already opened shops in Eastleigh and Southampton.
“We are immensely proud of all the team have achieved this year and are delighted that we will be able to share our recipes and sweet and savoury bakes with even more customers in Winchester,” said Warrens Bakery chairman Mark Sullivan. “With big expansion plans over the next five years, quality, provenance and hand-crafted skill are at the heart of what we do and we look forward to welcoming the Winchester store and staff to the Warrens Bakery family.”
To celebrate the opening, the first 50 customers to pay with the newly launched Jane Austen £10 note, featuring the Winchester Cathedral, will receive a free cupcake with their purchase.
Warrens was recently celebrated as one of the top three craft bakery businesses in the Baking Industry Awards 2017, and also gave its 150-year-old Cornish pasty recipe a vegan makeover.
