Premier Foods has expanded its Cadbury cupcake range by taking Oreo and Freddo brands into the format for the first time.

Available from 8 April, both brands will be sold in 12-pack cupcake party platters and follow the launch of Cadbury Heroes Cupcakes last April, which Premier said has delivered £2m in sales so far.

The Oreo platter (rsp £8.50) contains three types of cupcakes – original, caramel flavour Birthday Party and Choc’o Brownie Flavour – while the Freddo cupcakes (rsp £5) feature two varieties, the chocolate sponge topped with either Freddo faces or chocolate buttons.

“Oreo and Freddo are iconic brands from Mondelēz and we’re delighted to be taking these into the cake aisle for the first time. We know there is an appetite for sharing formats of treats like these, owing to the success we’ve had with Cadbury Heroes Cupcakes,” said Mathew Bird, brand director for sweet treats at Premier Foods.

“It’s important for retailers to offer shoppers choice, and we are confident that expanding our range will open up a greater sales opportunity – particularly as we are targeting different occasions with the Freddo cupcakes, which are under 85kcal each.”

In January this year, Premier Foods also unveiled a further addition to the range in the form of the Cadbury Easter Cupcakes Platter, which contains six Mini Egg and six Crème Egg cupcakes.
