Brook Food donates £1,475 to Steam Coast Trail project

A project to build a network of countryside paths for walkers and cyclists has been given £1,475 by bakery equipment supplier Brook Food Processing Equipment.

Somerset-based Brook is marking its 25th anniversary by making a £25 donation to charity for every order of £1,000 or more placed with the business during 2019. A different charity is to benefit each month, with previous recipients including St Margaret’s Hospice and the RNLI station at Minehead. Donations have now exceeded £11,000.

The latest recipient is The Steam Coast Trail, an ongoing project to build a network of paths around West Somerset for walkers, cyclists, runners and wheelchairs.

Brook recently signed up a large number of its team on the Cycle to Work scheme, and members of staff are using the pathways on their journeys to work.

“The Steam Coast Trail is enjoyed by many of us at Brook – not only for the commute to work, but also at the weekends with our families. The initiative to improve the facilities along the coastline in our area is admirable and appreciated by many,” said Brook Food group marketing director Ann Wells.

“If, with this donation, we can help the cause and the organisers increase or improve the trail in some way, then we would be delighted.”

The Steam Coast Trail said the donation would help to complete the aim of linking Minehead to Williton with accessible paths for cyclists, walkers, runners and people with limited mobility.
